Data Science & Advanced Analytics

Purpose / Scope

The Data Science and Advanced Analytics Working Group addresses the data foundations that enable AI-driven scientific discovery.

It focuses on data governance, semantic interoperability, metadata, FAIR data, scalable data engineering, advanced analytics and data preparation for AI. The group promotes best practices for managing increasingly complex scientific datasets while supporting interoperability across research infrastructures and scientific disciplines. Its objective is to strengthen Europe’s capacity to build reliable, reusable and AI-ready scientific data ecosystems.

Key Questions

01

How can scientific data become AI-ready?

Improving data quality, metadata and lifecycle management for AI applications.

02

How can interoperability be achieved across disciplines?

Developing common standards and semantic approaches for research data.

03

How can advanced analytics support scientific discovery?

Exploring scalable analytical methods for complex scientific datasets.

04

How should synthetic and generated data be used responsibly?

Investigating opportunities, validation methods and potential risks.

Linked RAISE FORUM Space

It supports the exchange of perspectives on priorities, challenges, and opportunities in AI for science.

This community focuses on scientific data management, analytics and interoperability. Discussions include FAIR data, metadata standards, data engineering, semantic technologies and practical approaches for enabling AI across research domains.

Experts

Selected experts contributing to the AI in Science Working Groups

Each Working Group brings together a selected group of experts contributing to the co-creation of the AI in Science Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Members were appointed through an open call for expression of interest based on their expertise, experience, and ability to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration across AI and scientific research domains.
